We’re so glad you are here. The fact that you’re exploring ways to volunteer – whether inside the parks or out in the community – means the world to us, and the future of Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks.
Being a volunteer and representing Washington’s National Park Fund helps spread our message of how park lovers can help preserve and protect Washington’s national parks for generations to come.
While we do occasionally work with Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks to organize in-park volunteer opportunities, most of our volunteer opportunities take place outside national park boundaries. Often, these involve representing WNPF by tabling at community events. The goal? Helping spread the word about how people can give back to the parks.
Most of our volunteer opportunities happen right in your community. We show up at local events, set up a table, and talk to people about why supporting Washington’s national parks matter and how they can help protect them for generations to come!
Every now and then, we also head into the parks themselves for hands-on service projects – think trail cleanups and campground clean up. Check out the North Cascades campground clean up listed below – happening on Saturday, April 18th!
Whatever the opportunity, you’ll never be going at it alone. We pair volunteers with WNPF staff or experienced team members.
Here’s what we’ve got coming up:
Join us for a day of giving back to the park! Our group will assist with tasks such as campground cleanup and the removal of debris from parking areas and trailheads to help the park prepare for the busy summer season. Safety equipment and tools will be provided. Nearby camping is available for event volunteers.
A fun and unique tabling experience outside the entrance of a neighborhood haunted house. A portion of the ticket sales gets donated back to WNPF! Learn more about Nightfall on their website here.
At our annual fall fundraising event, there will be multiple ways to help out, including assisting with registration, games/activities tables, silent auction pack-up, and more. Plus, our volunteers get free entry and food! Learn more about Parkfest on our website here.
We also get last-minute requests for community tabling events throughout the year. These pop up with short notice, and we’d love to have volunteers we can reach out to when they come up.
Interested in joining us as a volunteer? Reach out to Kristen Oliphant (kristen@wnpf.org) to be added to our volunteer list.
If you’re more interested in ongoing park volunteering opportunities, we encourage you to visit the volunteer pages for each park directly (fun fact: WNPF supports most of these programs year over year!):
