Leave Your Legacy

There are lots of ways to make a difference in Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. Planned giving is an especially impactful way to give back.

Please note that all gifts must align with our Gift Acceptance Guidelines.

Let's Work Together

Thank you for your generosity in partnering with Washington’s National Park Fund in service to Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. While we certainly appreciate generosity in the form of current cash and stock gifts, we recognize that each donor has unique financial circumstances and objectives. We want to meet you where you are.

We have the planning resources to work with you and your professional service providers to structure a gift that is specially styled to work with your financial circumstances. We fully recognize that this may be in the form of a gift other than cash or publicly-traded securities. Perhaps…

  • We could explore together how you could benefit the parks through your estate plans,
  • You would like to support the parks through contributions from your IRA or 401(k) Plan (and you are age 70 ½ or older), or
  • Your primary asset is a piece of real estate or a private operating business

We understand that you may wish to retain the use or benefit of these assets during your lifetime. Know that we have some of the best people in the region standing alongside us to assist when their expertise is needed. We are available to you to explore how structuring a gift that requires careful planning could meet your needs while helping to secure the future of our national parks.

Let’s explore together. Contact Andrea Christensen, Director of Donor Engagement, at andrea@wnpf.org or call (206) 623-2063.

IRA and 401(k) Rollovers

Making a gift to WNPF directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) or 401(k) plan as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is an easy and tax-effective way to support Washington’s national parks. If you are 70 ½ years of age or older you can make a transfer directly from your IRA to WNPF without realizing any taxable income. If you are age 72 or older, this also qualifies toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year.

You can contribute up to $100,000 per year per individual from your IRA without realizing taxable income, though you cannot claim an income tax deduction for the gift – for many, this may provide greater income tax savings than making a cash gift and claiming an income tax deduction. Please note that no goods or services may be received for your IRA Rollover contribution. Please contact your IRA plan administrator to transfer a gift to WNPF.
