Sue Raney

Former Commercial Lender

Board of Directors

Living in the Pacific Northwest for over 50 years, I’ve seen the region change dramatically. The one constant is our national parks. They are the timeless touchstone that grounds us.

Sue built a successful career in commercial banking, navigating five major mergers while steadily advancing in leadership before retiring early to focus on travel, philanthropy, and community projects. She has served on the boards of Boys and Girls Club and Rebuilding Together, bringing strategic and financial insight to organizations that strengthen local communities.

Originally from St. Louis, Sue spent summers visiting her grandparents in Washington, where clear days and views of Mount Rainier sparked her lifelong affection for the Northwest. The region proved so special that she moved here in 1972. Now living at Point Ruston with those same sweeping views, she and her husband Mike Raney (a volunteer ranger at the parks) enjoy traveling, including exploring Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. Together they have visited 55 U.S. national parks and more than 100 countries, giving Sue a broad perspective on the importance of preserving these extraordinary places.

Sue is honored to support Washington’s National Park Fund and to serve on its Board of Directors, helping to ensure that these parks continue to inspire and sustain future generations. As Greg Dudgeon, Mount Rainier National Park superintendent, says, “Special places don’t stay special by accident”!
