Consultant/Trainer, Alma Busby-Williams Training and Consultation
Board of Directors
Nature is truly healing and restorative. I have seen its own power strengthen and rejuvenate my family. I tell everyone how important it is to merely get outside to experience our Washington Parks, if only to breathe the air. These beautiful parks are for all of us.
Alma Busby-Williams is a native of Oakland, California. She received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University, and her Juris Doctor from New College of California School of Law. She has facilitated Cultural Humility trainings for over 12 years, and still believes her most important role is facilitating difficult, but vital discussions.
Alma grew up in awe of redwood trees, and was happiest when traveling up the coast in her family’s motorhome. When her son chose to attend The Evergreen State College, determined to study zoology on such a beautiful campus, Alma visited and decided that this amazing city, with a view of the Olympics and Mount Ranier, would also become her home. She had never visited a national park in Washington until her son began his graduate residency at the North Cascades Institute, and she will never forget how overwhelmed she was when she hiked the Maple Pass Loop Trail.
You can find Alma hiking or kayaking around Olympia, Washington, or leading an Outdoor Afro Seattle event at one of Washington’s beautiful national parks. She also spends a lot of time bragging about her author-daughter, or her park ranger-son.
She is thrilled to work on the board of the WNPF because its mission of funding such necessary programs in the national parks aligns with her own mission of ensuring these parks are available for everyone.
