Mount Rainier uses an antiquated exterior camera system to surveil the area surrounding its headquarters building. The system permanently lost its ability to record any of the photo data approximately one year ago. This simple security upgrade is sorely needed in the interest of addressing current federal building security expectations.
In the event of criminal activity or even a security threat in the area surrounding the park headquarters building, it would be of great value to have video images that are recordable to be reviewed later. The current outdated system has lost this capability.
