2014 | Grant Amount $4,200.00

Funding provided transportation for more than 230 youth from the Concrete School District to the North Cascades National Park. The youth participate in the Science Department, Lunch and Literacy program, Summer Learning Adventures and NOCA/NCI Leadership Camp.

North Cascades National Park reaches out to youth in Skagit Valley by partnering with organizations in the community who are already working with diverse youth. Each of these groups bring students from Skagit Valley to the North Cascades National Park, many for the first time, where they learn about the cultural and natural histories of the National Park, meet National Parks Service staff from several disciplines, and in many programs learn how to travel safely and enjoyably in the wilderness. This encourages the students to become lifetime outdoor enthusiasts and advocates for the appreciation and protection of natural and public lands.

This project was funded by a grant from the Skagit Community Foundation.
