Butterfly: Volunteer Monitoring
Butterflies are an easily monitored and charismatic indicator of the influence of our rapidly changing climate on national parks resources. Washington's Nationla Park Fund provided a $30,000 grant to North Cascades National Park to use citizen scientists to monitor and understand the impacts of warming climates on fragile subalpine ecosystems in Washington State.
This program will began in the winter of 2011; in-field research began in the summer of 2011. Check in often as more information about this program becomes available.
